May Newsletter

Summer's here! The first of May and the sun is smiling and shining bright today.

This is a quiet month, but I am working on workshops from June onwards. :-D

Just a reminder about the Maths Café. It is for people who want to brush up on their school maths or who maybe never fully got it in the first place. We'll be using a new app, Slam, that supports face-to-face collaborative learning.
What's more, all proceeds go to the R&D of Ireland's only entry (that we know of!) for the Global Learning XPRIZE, a competition to enable child-driven learning. >> Tickets are available here.

News you might have missed:

Women in Technology and Science are celebrating their 25th Anniversary this year. They are offering a special EUR25 membership for first time joiners, and full-time student affiliate membership for FREE.
Details >> http://witsireland.com/becoming-a-member/

Here's my selection for May's reading list (with a couple of videos).

If you have any questions, drop us an email at contact@codinggrace.com.

Enjoy and looking forward to more warm sunshine as exam season starts.

Cheers,

/// Vicky

WORK IN PROGRESS

Some workshops that I'm organising in the coming months:-

  • Workshop as part of Silicon Republic's Inspirefest 2015 fringe events. Details to follow.
  • Invited to run workshops at the next Women Techmakers (Dublin) at the end of July. Details to follow.
  • The animation workshop is pushed out till July.
  • Processing (Creative coding) workshop
  • Functional programming - make a game with F#

There has been lots of interest in more data visualisation and manipulation workshops. I'm also looking into running more game-related workshops. Will aim for summer, so stay tuned.
