Coding Grace September Newsletter

Brr...
I'm missing the sunshiney weather, but that means we can spend more time indoors learning about technologies and meeting awesome people instead of feeling guilty about missing being outside during warm sunny summer evenings. Because seemingly as kids start back to school, it looks like organisers are all back to running events this month, which is great news for us all.

I attended the launch of Diversein on Fri Aug 31st. We were welcomed by founder, Furkan Karayel followed by talks from David Pollard and Adaku Ezeudo and finally a panel discussion with Sandra Healy and Amanda O'Farrell chaired by Furkan. You should check all the amazing embassadors and let's work together to improve Diversity and Inclusion at work and in the community. ๐โค๏ธ๐

As per my previous newsletters, there's still lots happening although I'm still collaborating running other workshops than running Coding Grace only workshops. In the meantime, you'll find me involved in the following
Sat Sep 8 - mentoring a beginner's female-friendly Django workshop in Sligo
Sat Sep 22 - Diversity in Data Workshop @ Talent Garden
Sat Sep 29 - The Mega GameCraft Showdown @ Talent Garden
TableTop Game Makers vs Digital Game Makers (Beginners Welcome)
Wed Oct 10 - Dublin Ada Lovelace Day
Activities incl. Wikipedia Edithon, crafting, coding
I've also more news that I will be one of the Python instructors for CodeFirst:Girls starting at end September for 8 weeks in DIT. If you are studying in DIT, you can apply to attend the Python or HTML/CSS 8-week course via codefirstgirls.org.uk/free-community-courses.html.
This will be a great learning experience to build on top of what I've being doing with Coding Grace, so I will certainly bring what I learnt and improve our offerings with Coding Grace, especially now that we have 4 Pi-Tops and I can run smaller coding workshops.

Something exciting is happening with Coding Grace Wexford come September/October.
If you are interested, you can sign up to their newsletter via http://eepurl.com/duzDSf.

We collaborated with the 1st Dublin Pi Jam and we ran an overall successful Pi Jam with some hiccups. The Pi-Tops we lent to the Jam worked a treat, you can read a quick write-up on the day here >>>
By the way, details for 2nd Pi Jam (Sat Nov 3) is now live. Follow @DublinRaspJam for updates.
