Coding Grace August 2019 Newsletter

Last of the summer sun
That was a sweltering last few weeks, wasn't it? Just as we cool down it's hotting up to conference season, so check below for discounts on tickets, and diversity grants.
🌈We had so much fun at our vue.js workshop last month, thanks to all involved and those who took part! You can check out our quick write-up here >>>
💡I found out about Open Data Engagement Fund 2019/2020 and I have been seeking a call to action for anyone who's interested in working with me on a project that can be open-sourced and collaboratively contributed to. I hope to run a few workshops/coding nights the monthly PyLadies Dublin meetups, and I hope other diversity in tech groups run coding nights as well during those months. If you are interested, and have ideas on a project that can be ongoing and be impactful and beneficial to society, drop me an email. Coding Grace will be involved as a partner as a registered company and help with logistics and resources (plus I am open to running workshops based on it also). Read more about this fund here >>>
💭Who's going to ShipItCon next month? Don't forget they have financial aid See below fore more information.
🤞🏼Nominations for Women in Tech Awards has been extended to August 20th, so get your nominations in via https://womenxtech.com/nominations/. Good luck to all the nominees!
💻We have a private "coding-grace" channel on IrishTechCommunity.com on Slack. You can self-join the slack group by visiting the link, and when you have joined, DM me (Vicky Twomey-Lee or whykay) and I will add you to the private group where you can ask questions, exchange knowledge in a safe space. There's an open women_of_itc channel in the group also if you want to meet other female techies, there's also an lgbt_plus channel and many other cool channels that suits everyone's tastes.
🤔By the way, anyone doing anything for Circuit Python Day? That's today - 8/8/2019! If you are, do tweet, and share with us. I will try and do something myself this year, and maybe next year I will organise a Circuit Python Day event in Dublin. Interested? Come talk to me, and let's get planning.

🙌As Maker Advocate, I was so ecstatic to see the 🚌Maker Van 🚌in real life at the recent Dublin Maker Festival at Merrion Square, a huge thanks to Dublin City Council Libraries! I'm looking forward to working with the community in our outreach efforts.
❓On a maker-related note, as mentioned in last newsletter, if people are interested in me running PewPew with Circuit Python workshop, let me know.

Want to keep this here so folks in and around Wexford can keep up to date with what they are up to.
If you are interested, you can sign up to their newsletter via http://eepurl.com/duzDSf.

In case your are curious, I go through meetup, eventbrite and other places each month to curate events of interest for this newsletter, it takes a lot my time. If you find that this is not useful, let me know. In the meantime, after each newsletter, I'll post more updates on CodingGrace.com blog and do feel free to share events in the comments.
BTW, Startup Digest Dublin also has a great listings of events happening in Dublin.
