๐ธ Coding Grace March & April Newsletter
๐ฑ It's spring time! Our March & April newsletter includes news, announcements, diversity in tech events, CFPs and more.
๐ฑ It's spring time! Vicky, here. I was talking to someone over the weekend who drove back to Dublin from the country yesterday and saw lambs in the fields. It's been quite awhile since we saw blue skies after one of the longest stretches of rain we ever had. Yay to days getting longer and warmer.
โจ So a fresh new start, I've been busy with Train the Creative Trainer workshop (by Creative Skillnet) and nearly wrapping up with Creative Learning Course by NCAD. I'm looking forward to applying these skills and bringing even more creative aspects to my outreach and advocacy work with Coding Grace. And to keep including the A (Arts) in STEM โ STEAM.

๐ค Mick and I recently attended the inaugural Godรณ Gaedhealach meetup (Godot Ireland) representing GameCraft, and Vicky gave a talk about what GameCraft is about and its community. Due to people enquiring on when we will be running the next game-making event, ๐คwe hope to plan one near the end of the year. If you like to get involved, run a game jam, host it, or want game-making event in your area, talk to us at info@gamecraft.it.
๐ On the subject of game-making, there's call for participation from IMIRT - The Irish Game Makers Association and Fรญs รireann/Screen Ireland who have recently partnered with Alex Kotsos created a Competency Framework for the Games Industry.
Weโre looking for advice from people of all levels and from all backgrounds. No role is too obscure! You donโt have to be in Ireland to contribute. Please note that the fruits of this project will be made publicly available to anyone across the world who would like to make use of it.
๐ And if you are a woman in games, Women in Games recently released their Women in Games Manifesto 2026 "to reflect the current state of the industry".
It outlines 14 reasons why gender equality in games matters, highlighting the connection between who makes games and whose stories, perspectives, and experiences are represented. The Manifesto positions fairness and inclusion as essential to the long-term creativity, sustainability, and cultural impact of the industry.

๐ Speaking of women in games, we are big fans of Brenda Romero who's been a great proponent in supporting the Irish game dev scene, and wonderful inspiration if you are getting into the world of games. There's a kickstarter for a documentary about Brenda by Theresa Loong. If you want to support it, the closing date to back it is Sat, March 21 2026.

๐ช This month is International Women's Day (month), and UN's theme this Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls.
