I was also at CarpentryCon recently with my Coding Grace (and maybe PSF) hat on, the community was very welcoming and very diverse. They had over 40% non-male attendees at their first conference. Great speakers and enjoyed their interactive workshops like Diversity & Inclusion, Chasing Funds for Workshops, Effective Speaking and the Ally Skills workshop by Valerie Aurora herself!
