Coding Grace July & August Newsletter
Coding Grace July & August Newsletter: What we have been up to, what's happening, and upcoming events!

It's international zine month in July, and some might know that I have been getting more into making and sharing zines as an alternative way to share information outside of socmed.

Speaking of zines, we delighted to share that we have been accepted by Dublin Maker to run a DIY zine-making workshop which takes place at the end of August in Leopardstown Racecourse. Keep an eye out on their socmed for exciting updates. ๐
In the meantime you can book your free ticket for Dublin Maker here.

Whilst we are on the topic of Makers, I attended the recent CHAT (Community Hub for Accessible Technology) event at Trinity College organised by Sarah Gavra Boland (FreedomTech) where I met and listened to an amazing Makers, Emilie Giles (her electronics and textiles workshops, and other creative tech ideas), Maura Moore-McCune (winner of this year's SciFest), Declan Meenagh (Fighting Blindness) on an initiative he's involved teaching kids who are vision impaired STEM using Micro:bits to STEM Passport for Inclusion (Isabel Meza Silva) and Pytch (Glenn Strong). It was a jam-packed event with educators, volunteers, community leaders sharing experiences and connecting on how using Accessible Technology to support inclusive classrooms.

A quick mention that PyLadies Dublin will take a break in July and will be back in August! There are few things that are being planned in the coming months, so keep an eye on meetup. Want to give a workshop or give a lightning talk? You can submit your proposal here.

EuroPython is happening in Prague next week, and if you cannot make it, you can join remotely. You can buy your remote tickets here: https://tickets.europython.eu/
If you cannot afford the remote tickets, you can apply via FinAid for a remote ticket grant: https://ep2025.europython.eu/finaid/#grant-types
And if you do make it, share a hello with us! And enjoy the conference with so many activities ranging from various activities including PyLadies Lunch.

๐ฃ A bit closer to home, one of our favourite tech community conferences, NIDC (Belfast) are back on Saturday 8th November, and their Early Bird tickets are still available: https://ti.to/nidc/nidc2025
NIDC has brought Northern Ireland's tech community together every year since 2017. The conference gathers enthusiasts, practitioners and those with a passing interest across the diverse disciplines of our industry from software, product, cloud, data, UX, games, infrastructure, open source, security, hardware, testing, design, AI, and everything in between.

Our friends at TechFoundHer have an upcoming event on Mon 14th July hosted by Huckletree. You can find out more information via their eventbrite page.

Nominations for Diversity in Tech Awards recently closed on Friday, July 4th. Good luck to everyone being nominated. More details of the event taking place on Sep 17 can be found here.
In light of shocking recent news of Galway-based Romero Games having to suddenly to layoff its staff as a result of Microsoft pulling funds, please lend your support to those affected. Romero Games have been quite supportive of the local indies and the Irish game devs community.
Update: Romero Games are not closed: https://bsky.app/profile/romerogames.bsky.social/post/3ltfjxsyavs23
