๐ป Coding Grace July/August Newsletter ๐ป
We are in the height of summer with temperatures at record levels to expected and relief of normal Irish summer weather, we've been going to lots of interesting events, and there's stillinteresting events coming up in the next couple of months (including some exciting news to announce).

We donned our GameCraft hats, and we headed to a small village called Ballyconnell, where we attended Run for the Border, along with over 250 indie developers for a day of talks and chats. This gathering brought game-makers from around Ireland and Northern Ireland (and a guest speaker all the way from Scotland). If you are an artist, musician, audio person, creator, maker, and want to meet indie game-makers, I highly recommend this event. Talks are not recorded, so even more reasons to attend the next Run for the Border. Check out their website on info about their of the speakers and talk topics this year.

๐ PyLadies Dublin's last event before the summer break was a Liberty IT and you can find Vicky's write-up about it here.
โญ๏ธ The next PyLadies Dublin in-person meetup will be on Tue September 15th. Keep an eye on their meetup page for updates.

๐ On the subject of Python, we are working on a CircuitPython and Electronics Workshop Series where you get an introduction to electronics introducing circuits from paper circuits to connecting electronics using a breadboard and a taste of Circuit Python getting a custom game controller to work via Raspberry Pi Pico.
๐๏ธ It will be on every Saturday morning in September till Saturday October 3rd at The Digital Hub. It's limited to 10 places.
๐ The workshop series is funded by an award by the Dublin City Council Community Grant Scheme 2026. If you are interested, you can sign up your interest in the workshops, and you will be notified when the tickets become available.

Recently we visited Farset Labs in Belfast with members from TOG Hackerspace as part of the All-Island Maker Mobility programme. We got a tour of the space (it's been awhile since we last visited), and checked out their workshop area after a wonderful workshop on 3D printing clay, yes, a few folks 3D printed clay! If you want to find out more about the All-Island Maker Mobility programme, they will be at ShipItCon and NIDC.

Speaking of ShipItCon, you will also find us (Coding Grace) at the community table with the All-Island Maker Mobility folks at ShipItCon this year. I'm looking forward to see what people will be making for this year's Maker competition, and the theme this year is: FRICTION.
๐ They do offer financial assistance if you cannot afford the tickets, please email team@shipitcon.com.

On the subject of Makers, Dublin Maker is taking place on the 22nd & 23rd August back at Leopardstown Racecourse. It's free but ticketed, so head over to https://dublinmaker.ie and check out a weekend of making, creating, crafting and all things STEAM. It's a wonderful opportunity to talk to all the Makers and Crafters, you never know, you might pick up a thing or two and start your new hobby (or finish one ๐).
