It's the last issue of 2025! Thank you to everyone who stayed with us all this time, we really appreciate your support.
As it's the end of the year, we have been doing our annual bit of tidying of the Diversity in Tech Groups around Ireland and Northern Ireland listings. It was sad to see so many groups going away but check out the groups that were added in 2025 below.
Are we missing any other groups? Let us know and will update the list: contact@codinggrace.com.
🎉 What a wonderful evening celebrating 35 years of WITS Ireland which was hosted at MoLi recently, with an exhibition of artefacts and a gallery of past milestones and achievements.
It was great to see so many past Chairs in one room, it's the testament to everyone who gave their time volunteering, advocating through policy, events and more, and being a formidable platform giving girls and women in STE(A)M visibility and support. You can find out more about WITS Ireland and how you can support all the good work they are doing here.
Speaking of inspiring folks, here's a trailer of a documentary of one of the most amazing game developers as well as champion of diversity in games, and she is based in Galway, it's Brenda Romero! Read about how the documentary came about here.
🍿 I can't wait for it to come out, who's up for a watch party!
[...] the PSF simply can’t agree to a statement that we won’t operate any programs that “advance or promote” diversity, equity, and inclusion, as it would be a betrayal of our mission and our community.
It's a bittersweet post that a community organisation made the hard decision and stood by what it right by their community. And if you want to keep updated and also how to support them, check out their blog.
🎤 And more Python-related news, PyLadies Dublin around round up the year with their last event of the year this month, and this means the team is looking forward to more activities in 2026. If you are interested in giving a lightning talk, a workshop, or collaborating with them, you can submit your proposal here, and check out other community groups who are looking for speakers (scroll down to the Looking for Speakers section).
PyCon Ireland is happening soon, and we will be running the Irish Tech community table at their sparkling new host venue at O'Reilly Hall (UCD). We will be surrounded by other community tables, so if you are about, drop by.
We will have limited custom stickers, a DIY zine station to make your own techie zine. Not sure how to make one, we have a zine library and we will be there to show you how and all materials are provided at the table. Chat and ask about the various Irish tech community groups that are running events, and a chance to talk to the organisers themselves.
🎄 While the holiday season is right around the corner, we are delighted to share the news (not officially announced yet) that the annual Irish Techie Quiz will be back on early December. Things are still being finalised, so keep an eye out on your socials once the registration page is published. We can't wait to announce alongside our host partner and it would be a great way to end this year with a meetup of all meetups event raising money for the Dublin Simon Community.
And while you wait, here's something fun, check this out (no coding knowledge required), it's an "’80s BASIC type-in mags are back, but this time for HTML!" - you read right, it's a physical magazine for coding.
Even though Samhain (and Halloween) might have ended, you should check out this game released by an Irish indie studio (Spooky Doorway) called The Séance of Blake Manor.
You can get it on Steam right now. Also makes a great Christmas gift. Plus support local! 🙌
